GREAT NEWS!!!

So in case you don't know, I've been in school FOREVER!! And I graduate this May...May 10th to be exact, but who's keeping track, really? I have looked into a few places to work for but nothing really panned out. I had been struggling with what I want to do next year. Without going into too much detail, a part of me really felt like I needed to do a residency (postdoc work) after graduation and I had been working with a faculty member on perhaps starting an ambulatory care one for me to do. Well, I got really excited about this at first but again, this just wasn't going to work out in such short amount of time...there were some problems with funding, sites, traveling, etc and I just wasn't going to make a commitment with so much uncertainty. So, in the midst of all this, I also interviewed with Ball's Food Stores here in KC (Price Choppers) just to see what they had to offer. They are a large company here in KC but each store is more like the hometown store/corner pharmacy type. My interview went really well. We talked about their vision to start pharmacist run employee clinics for all their employees with incentives for them to attend. They are going to be covering health related topics like diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, smoking cessation, weight loss, etc and how to manage each of these... I felt pretty good about my interview but I didn't know if I'd get it because supposedly they were interviewing a lot more people than they had spots for. A few days later, they called and offered me the position (one of three that they hired!!)!! And the best part is is that they want me to be a integral part in getting these clinics up and going and perhaps teaching some of them!!! So this is awesome!! I stopped the process on getting the residency started and I start working for Price Chopper ASAP!! I can not believe that I am finally at this point! It has been a huge struggle but I am so glad that I did it! Let's just pray that I pass my current and last rotation and that I pass Boards!!
